Jawied Nawabi

Author, Professor in Sociology, Economics, and International Studies

Dr. Nawabi is a Full Professor at the City University of New York - Bronx Community College, teaching in the field of social sciences which include, Sociology, Economics, and International Studies. He is the author of the book, Why States Matter in Economic Development: The Socioeconomic Origins of Strong Institutions (Routledge Press 2024) which is a comparative socioeconomic and historical study of state formation of three European states (England, Spain, and France) and three non-European states (India, Brazil, and South Korea). He is the co-editor of Real World Globalization textbook readers and is a published author on topics of economic development, sociological roots of development, and political economy. He earned his Ph.D and Masters from the New School for Social Research and B.A. from Stony Brook University in New York.
